LA Food Fests You Don't Want to Miss This Summer!

Eating our way through the 626 Night Market (2014)

626 Night Market

July 3rd-5th, 2015
August 7th-9th, 2015
September 4th-6th, 2015

The grand-daddy of food festivals in Los Angeles, this open-air night market (modeled after evening bazaars across the Asia) takes street food to a whole other level. Think ramen tacos, potato swirls, fermented tofu, paella, Hong Kong style waffles, Thai Tea boba, and on and on and on. Trust us when we say that you won't be bored wandering the stalls of the Santa Anita Racetrack (where the market is held).

Crowds do get large, so come early, bring cash, and wear comfortable shoes! Parking is free, and this year - lucky us! - there's THREE dates to choose from.

LA Street Food Fest

July 11th, 2015

After living in Asia and South America for stints of time, street food will always hold a dear place in our hearts (we used to have a "Street Meat Man" we visited every Thursday evening for the juiciest skewers in South Korea!). We also sorely miss Susan Feniger's now-shuttered restaurant Street, one of our favorite LA spots, featuring a menu of global street food (RIP Kaya Toast).

So you can bet your bottom dollar that we'll be at this year's LA Street Food Festival, an event at the Rose Bowl that features over 100 street food trucks, stands and carts! This looks like our kind of culinary adventure - especially as the festival "highly recommends stretchy pants."

LA Food & Wine Fest

August 27th-30th, 2015

"Pure bliss," "Food and wine heaven," and "Just spectacular" is how many of the 2014 Food and Wine Fest attendees described the event.

This is the VIP of all food festivals in Los Angeles, an extravaganza on Grand Avenue in downtown - celebrity chefs, the very best wine, cooking demonstrations, live music. Sure, the ticket is pricey, but we haven't heard one person say that the festival wasn't worth it. Foodies and winos, take note.

Port of Los Angeles Lobster Fest

September 25th-27th, 2015

One of our biggest life goals? To enjoy lobster and champagne whenever we damn well please. We feel like we're getting pretty close with this year's Lobster Festival! This is the world's largest lobster festival, and it takes place in one of our most favorite parts of the city: San Pedro.

You're coming to this fest for one thing, and one thing only. The lobster is flown in fresh from Maine, and served with cole slaw, sweet bread, potatoes, and buttery dipping sauce. There's also over a dozen bands, arts and crafts, and street performers. Oh, and did we mention the pirate camp?!
