My Best LA Favorites: WAYS TO ESCAPE THE HEAT
*Photos from MyBestLADay: Culver City
Summer may be nearing its end in most other places, but the heat is still on in this town of ours. And while we sun-worshiping Angelinos welcome the Indian summer approaching, we also recognize the need to occasionally escape the rays during those 85+ degree days.
Here are a few of our favorite ways to do just that:
- Cool off in the beachside pool at the The Annenberg Community Beach House (Santa Monica): Open Saturdays and Sundays from 11am-5pm. Admission is $10 for adults, $4 for kids.
- Do a complete, air-conditioned museum day at The Museums of Exposition Park (south LA): Visit The Natural History Museum, The California African American Museum and the California Science Center all in one convenient park. The latter two offer free admission and the NHM is $12 with discounted tickets for kids and students. $10 parking at Expo Park or take the Expo line train!
- *Enjoy a homemade ice cream sandwich during "ice cream happy hour" at Coolhaus (Culver City): get $1 off your ice cream creation from 4-6pm on weekdays!
- Catch a flick and experience some history at El Capitan Theater (Hollywood): built in 1926, this theater is the best in LA to experience a new (or classic) family favorite. Go when a new Disney movie is released and you'll be in for an extra treat!
- Go ice skating at one of the last standing indoor rinks in LA - Pasadena Ice Skating Center (Pasadena): For a $10 entry fee + $4 skate rental, you can experience ice cold temperatures while enjoying one of our most favorite past-times. Weeeee! ($1 off for Pasadena locals!)
How do you keep so cool, LA?
